Truly one of my alll-time favorite; another classic that has been sung and covered so many times. This cover is my personal favorite. The beat and vocals compliment each other so well that they do the lyrics' poetic justice! Here are the lyrics and my interpretation of the lyrics:
Nonomw pwipwi neniomw/ [while you are] whereever you are
Nge kone kan ouseninga/ Prepare to hear [this]
Uruon fongumw ei [1]/ history of my love for you
Epwe ne apio [2] ngonuk/ It speaks loudly to you
Seni chok ne kukunun/ Since we were young
Tori iei sa napono/ Til now we are both grown
Epwe chok sitefoch oh mwarei fochei/ It will strive forward and onward
Esapw nif usapw fangeta/It won't be daunted it wont give up
Epwe ne inet u chok/ So when is the day
Upwe angei pwungui me remw/ You will give me my answer
Nge maram chomong oh ier chomong/ its been many months many years
Ai ei sio lalen umwes/ These pleadings and wild thoughts of mine
Anchang mi namotongaw/ Thoughts that are useless
Sachounei mi napono/ My unpopularity grows
Mi chok pop seni inelapomw una/ Surely started with your mother
An fenok kopwe oput ngang/ She advised you to not like me
*NOTES*
[1] "uruon fongumw ei" is always immediately followed by "meren (name) ngawan", which changes the meaning from "history of my love for you" to rather "history of your love from (name)", often it is also the singer's name, though not necessarily.
[2] "apio" literally means "to urgently inform", often used to describe how important news are disseminated so the word choice achieves an emphatic exaggeration.
